That "moderate" ice storm we had when I made my last blog entry wasn't finished, it just took a break for a few hours. It continued throughout the day on Tuesday the 27th becoming severe and by that evening we were without power. The good news is that when the worst of the ice was over, my antenna was still standing! However, parts of the nearby trees were not. I guess this means my antenna is small, but the tree is big.
As you can see in the photo, the antenna mast is bending a good bit, but it never went down. If only the wood in the tree could have bent to the same degree it would have saved me some clean up.
We went without power for about 3 1/2 days. While this was a major inconvenience it could have been worse. Some people that I know went a full three weeks without electricity. All in all, I suppose it wasn't so bad. I only lost a few tree limbs so once the weather warms up, I'll have a little extra yard work to do. That tree was needing trimmed anyway so I suppose Mother Nature just gave me the motivation to get it done.
